The intake

Upload the marks from one mock

One teaching group, one paper, one file.

Not open yet:Get the file ready now

Uploads open once the paperwork that protects your students' marks is in place. We won't take any marks before then. Still outstanding:

  • uploads have not been switched on yet
  • the processor terms are not yet published
  • the data protection registration is not yet complete

You can download the template now. Fill it in from this term's mock, and your file will be ready on the day uploads open.

What does the file look like?

Download a blank template

The template contains only the header row: the ID column, then one correctly headed column per question part. Add one row per student beneath it, then upload it.

  • A CSV with a header row and one row per student, up to 400 students, under 512 KB.
  • The first column must be the student ID: letters, digits, dashes and underscores only, with at least one digit, up to 32 characters, no spaces. It must not be a name, a ULN or a UPN.
  • Every other column is one question part, headed with the question number and part as printed on the paper, such as 3, 4a or 12b. Columns headed total, total marks, sum, overall or grade are ignored. Any other unrecognised column is rejected, and the error names it.
  • A blank cell, or ab, abs, absent, x, na, n/a or a dash, means absent or not attempted, and is not counted. If a student attempted a question and scored nothing, write 0: a dash is read as absent.

The upload

The fields below are switched off until uploads open. They are shown so you can see what you will be asked for.

Which paper did they sit?

Your own topic list

A second CSV with one row per question part, and columns headed question, part, marks and topic. A strand column and a recoverability column (quick or deep) are optional. Name topics the way a teacher would say them, not as specification codes. Never paste in a board analyser's list: those labels are the board's, not yours.

Board, specification, paper and series, as a teacher would name it.

A whole number between 10 and 200. The parts in your topic list must add up to exactly this total. That check catches a missed row.

CSV, one row per question part, between 1 and 120 rows. Topic names are 2 to 60 characters in plain words.

You get a plan in the same way.

CSV, one row per student, first column the ID, up to 400 students and under 512 KB.

The institution's name as it appears on your website, not a person's name. Letters, digits, spaces and & ' ( ) , . - are allowed.

A college address, ideally a department or data protection mailbox rather than a personal one. Used only for notices about this upload: a problem with the file, a security incident, or a change to who processes the data. If you lose the plan link and ask for it from this address, we send it here. Never published, never passed on.

It doesn't change your plan either way.

If the file will not go in

Send us the column headings from your file and we will tell you what to change. We do not need any marks or IDs to diagnose a header row, so please leave them out.
