Mock triage for FE resit groups

What should your resit group work on next?

ResitLens is mock triage software for further education colleges in England running GCSE maths resit groups. Upload the marks per question from a mock your group has already sat, and get a plan showing which topics to teach, to which students, in the hours you have.

Every student in the group is shown, not just those near a grade 4. Each time you confirm or change the plan, it's added to a dated record of what the marks showed and what you decided.

Free until 28 February 2027, which covers the November 2026 series and January mocks. Any college, no card, no limit on uploads, nothing to cancel. Uploads open once the data protection paperwork is signed off. Until then, the sample plan shows exactly what you'll get.

What you get

Put in your hours. See what fits.

The chart shows every topic on the paper, ordered by the marks your group actually has in play. Your available hours decide where the line falls. Change the hours and the line moves. Every topic below it stays on the page, fully visible.

39 topics ranked by marks in play

  1. Map scale 1:20 000: 61 marks in play
  2. Link a fraction and two ratios; find n: 54.5 marks in play
  3. Probabilities sum to 1, with a two-to-one constraint: 54 marks in play
  4. Stem and leaf diagram: 52 marks in play

The chart shows all 39 topics on the sample paper: Edexcel 1MA1 Paper 1F, June 2025 (non-calculator). The marks are invented, but the paper map is real.

Three steps

How does it work?

  1. Mark the mock as you do now.

Use the exam boards' own past papers, marked by your team. We only ever see the marks.

  2. Upload marks per question.

One row per student and one column per question, with parts like 4a and 4b in their own columns. Student IDs only: the upload rejects any file that looks like it contains names.

  3. Read the plan.

Enter the hours you have, and it draws the line: these topics, these students, this many marks in play. Every row gives its reason, so you can disagree with it.

The whole cohort

No student gets written off.

Every student stays on the page. We draw the grade 4 estimate across the whole group, not around a chosen few, because a page that shows only the students near a boundary has already decided who is worth the hours.

24 students / 80 marksGrade 4 (estimate) 47

The chart shows 24 students from the sample cohort, by total mark, on Edexcel 1MA1 Paper 1F, June 2025 (non-calculator). The IDs and marks are invented.

The record

Show what you did with the mock data, and why.

Every plan you confirm or change goes into a dated record: what the marks showed, what was ranked, what you chose and why.

It builds itself as you use the plan, so there's nothing to write up. Export it as a CSV for a funding audit, or share it with senior leaders when they ask how the mock data was used.

  1. 2026-09-02: mock uploaded against Edexcel 1MA1 Paper 1F, June 2025 (non-calculator), 24 students.
  2. 2026-09-02: ranking produced. Top topics: Map scale 1:20 000; Link a fraction and two ratios; find n; Probabilities sum to 1, with a two-to-one constraint; Stem and leaf diagram; Multiply decimals. Grade 4 estimate used.
  3. 2026-09-03: plan confirmed for 4 hours: Map scale 1:20 000; Link a fraction and two ratios; find n; Probabilities sum to 1, with a two-to-one constraint; Stem and leaf diagram. 221.5 marks in play.
These are the first lines of the sample record, as the export writes them. See the record on the worked example

Independence

Why trust the ranking?

We don't sell exams, courses or revision content. We help you decide what to prioritise in the time you have.

The ranking stays a suggestion until you confirm it, and every assumption is shown beside the number it affects.

Questions

The questions colleges ask first

We already use the board's mock analyser. Why this?

Keep using the board's analyser. It shows you how one mock went.

ResitLens tells you what to do next with the hours you have, follows the same group from one mock window to the next, and records what was decided each time.

More on what the boards already give you

How much work is it for us?

Mark the mock as you already do. The extra step is one CSV of the marks you have just recorded, with one row per student. For a paper we have not mapped yet, the first upload also needs a topic list for that paper.

There is no per-student data entry, no login for teachers, no termly setup and nothing to maintain between mocks.

Is ResitLens free?

Free until 28 February 2027, which covers the November 2026 series and January mocks. Any college, no card, no limit on uploads and nothing to cancel.

A paid college licence starts on 1 March 2027, for the June 2027 series. Its price will be published on this site by 1 December 2026, so a college can budget for it before anyone is asked to pay.

What happens to student data?

Only the marks and the pseudonymous IDs you choose leave the college. We don't hold any key that links those IDs to your students.

Uploaded marks and the pages built from them are deleted 12 months after upload, or sooner on request.

The processor terms you accept at upload set this out in full.

The limits

What does it not do?

  • ResitLens counts marks, not grades. It won't promise you passes.
  • It does not mark answers, set papers or teach. It points you to free practice material and never creates content of its own.
  • The intake never holds names. If a file contains a name column, the upload stops and tells you which one.

Where to go next

Which GCSE papers are covered?

We are starting with Foundation maths: AQA 8300 and Edexcel 1MA1, from recent public series. A person checks every paper map before it goes live, and the paper library shows which ones have passed. If your paper is not mapped yet, add it to the public queue, or upload the college's own topic list alongside the marks and rank against that.
